Just to be clear, these are minimum requirements. I also take on students who are well beyond this stage.
Can you play these four bar chord shapes?
▼ ▼ ▼ ▼
These four shapes are what are known as E Shapes and A Shapes in both their major and minor forms.
You don't need to know their names or understand the CAGED system, you just need to be able to physically play them (with all the intended strings sounding clear) and be able to change change between both bar chords and open chords.
This means you have overcome the physical aspects of a beginner and are intermediate-ready.

FAQ: Why don’t you teach absolute beginners?
I specialise in working with students who already have the basics in place and have overcome many of the physical hurdles of a complete beginner. This allows me to concentrate my resources and expertise in specific areas, rather than try to be a jack of all trades and spread myself too thinly. Intermediate, Semi Professional and Developing Professional levels are areas where my training and professional experience are best utilised.
